The newest vehicles cannot be made safe from EMPs. However older cars (with a great deal of work and protective shielding) can be made to survive EMPs whether from our sun, malicious governments or bad actors.

The costs for such a complete restoration and electronics protection retrofit, start in the $250,000.00 to $350,000.00 area and go up depending on the model vehicle you choose and availability of new replacement parts for that vehicle.

Air bags cannot be made safe
The intricate wiring and microprocessors used in Airbag technology cannot be made safe from EMPs. To depend on airbags during or after an EMP is to risk your life.
A better solution is to use a multi point seat belt solution. Race car drivers use a five point system with no airbags and walk away from much worse crashes than you or I are likely to encounter. Strapping yourself and loved ones firmly in a well fastened seat allows the car to crumple, not your face or body.
